Fitting
We cut US 5 to US 15 in half sizes. A welted shoe will stretch across the width and never across the length, so everything below is about getting the length correct the first time.

Foot length is heel to longest toe, measured standing. Add nothing for allowance: the last already carries it.

Measure at the end of the day
Feet spread as the day goes on. A morning measurement will send you a half size small.

Stand on paper against a wall
Heel touching the wall, weight on the foot. Mark the longest toe, which is not always the big toe.

Measure both feet
Most people have a longer side by three or four millimetres. Size to the longer one.

Read across to your US size
If you land between two lengths, take the larger and use a tongue pad rather than squeezing into the smaller.
Lead time
Four weeks on the bench from the day the order is confirmed, then two to five days in transit, shipped free with duties prepaid.
Notes on our last
- Our last
- CE1 runs true to US length with a medium instep. If you take a US 9 in a welted dress shoe, take a US 9 here.
- Sizes we cut
- US 5 through US 15, in half sizes the whole way. Every size on the chart is a size we can start.
- Loafers
- Slip ons are built on the same last but unlined at the quarter, so they relax about a third of a size in the first fortnight. Do not size up.
- Boots
- Chukka, Chelsea and jodhpur run a touch snug over the instep by design. Order your usual size and expect four or five wears before it settles.
- Wide feet
- Tell us at order and the last is padded before lasting. There is no charge and no change to the four week lead time.
- Exchanges
- The first size exchange on any pair is free, both directions, worldwide. Keep the trees and the box and write to us within thirty days.
