Caring for Exotic Leather
Cloth, cream and cedar: the small habits that keep an exotic pair for years.
Exotic leather is durable, but it rewards a little regular care. These habits keep the scales supple and the shine deep.
After every wear
Wipe the shoes with a soft dry cloth and fit cedar shoe trees straight away. They hold the shape and draw out moisture.
Every month or two
Apply a small amount of conditioner made for exotic leather. Work it in the direction of the scales, never against them, then buff with a horsehair brush.
If they get wet
Blot gently, fit the shoe trees and let them dry at room temperature, away from heaters and direct sun.
Between wears
Give each pair a day off so the leather can rest. Store them in their dust bags. Because every Chicore pair is Goodyear welted, the sole can be replaced when it wears.
